Tom Evans and Barbara Farrar Evans are happy just to be working in the same city for a change. Director-playwright Evans retired last spring after 32 years at Hanover College, where he turned the small liberal arts institution's theater department into one of the nation's best.
Since then, he and his wife, an actress and director known professionally as Barbara Farrar, have been criss-crossing the country on separate projects.
When he was in South Carolina, she was in North Carolina. When he was in Colorado, she was still in North Carolina.
"We still have a home in Hanover, but mostly we live on the road," said the gray-haired, bespectacled Evans, whose speech still carries the soft accent of his home state of Mississippi.
Now, thanks to a happy confluence of events, they both are ensconced at the Downtown Renaissance Tower while working on projects in Indianapolis. |
